TIKKUN OLAM SUPERHERO CAPE

If you tell your kiddos that they are Tikkun Olam Superheroes and we all need their strength, bravery, and kindness to help save the world, they will be up, up, and away in a flash! Tikkun Olam, which means “repair the world,” is a central Jewish value that calls on everyone to do mitzvot and everything possible to fix what is broken in our world so that it may become whole. Help your little superheroes look the part by letting them create their very own Tikkun Olam superhero cape. They can make a matching superhero mask, too! In the wise words of Spiderman (although it sounds like something Moses could have said): “With great power comes great responsibility.” Indeed it does!

HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED:

-White cape (I Googled “DIY cape” and found some good options)
-Fabric markers
-Optional: PDF which has “Tikkun Olam” written in Hebrew and English
-Optional: white cardboard masks to decorate and pair with the cape

HERE’S WHAT YOU DO:

(1) Use painters tape to tape the cape (that rhymes!) to a big piece of cardboard or posterboard. This will keep the cape stretched tight and easier to write on; plus, you will protect your table from the fabric markers. (2) Decorate the cape however you wish. You might like this PDF as a reference which has “Tikkun Olam” written in Hebrew and English. (3) You may also want to make a superhero mask to go with your cape! (4) Now it’s time to be a Tikkun Olam superhero and look for ways to make the world a better place!
